Water Ripples by Enno Aare |
For someone who doesn't really wear eyeshadow ... I have a lot of eyeshadow palettes, and eye stuff in general etc. ... One of my last but most recent palette purchase is from Milani's Everyday Eye Palette line in Earthy Elements. It's a pretty basic palette of shimmery golds and warm colours which work nicely to subtly highlight my small eyes in a quick and easy swipe. One of the videos I watched that solidified my interest was from That's Just Karin - Video as she created two beautiful looks from this one palette.
warm shades and shimmers |
Like I always say - I'm by no means an eyeshadow expert but, from what I have read, warm golden/bronze toned colours work very well on dark skin and shimmery shades help highlight small eyes (if you want to make them appear bigger). Whilst I'm pretty content with my eyes as they are (smallies unite!) even when wearing makeup, I am partial to a bit (more like a lot) of shimmer and colour but, I do like subtlety too - which is why I was drawn to this palette. I think its a really good mix of subtle but, shimmery shades that I can lazily easily apply with my fingers without having to sweat over which eye brush to use.
From my bare eyelid to using just a shimmer shadow and then adding the orange - I applied it with a brush |
Since I don't have much eyelid space even when I wear makeup I may not bother wearing an eyeshadow or mascara but, when I do try and dress my eyes - I usually opt for golden, shimmer shades and oranges which (I think) work well for my purpose, to just add a hint of colour and shimmer.
Applied the shimmery base colour on my lid and under my lower lash line/ under eye (?) and then used the orange shade in the middle - no primer used or brush - applied with my fingers |
In the above photo, I used the shimmery base shade under my lash line. I've seen this application used quite frequently in Korean makeup looks and I really like how it catches the light at angles and gives a dewiness to the eye. For the purpose of the photo, I applied much more than I usually would in order to show the super shimmery nature of perhaps my favourite eyeshadow in the palette.
Price: £13.00
Overall thoughts: It's a really nice everyday palette that has good pigmentation (not spectacular) and works for my intended subtle purpose. The darker shades are not what I would call contours for my eyelid (there are instructions/ a guide on the back) but, overall I really enjoy all the shades and the smooth easy to blend texture.
Have you tried any palettes from Milani Everday line?
